(IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) you might know the answer to this one @SirAndy i've never seen the car in the metal. but my business partner took these shots for me on a trip to germany 15 or so years ago. i asked him to get some close in shots of the bumper. he didn't really get in close enough but.......... .....'cause it kind of looks like a production bumper but actually nothing like it really. at first you think its maybe just a kind of crude fit prototyping phase where the rubber top cap isn't quite a right fit. however i recall reading somewhere that the bumpers are actually spring mounted and can take a small impact. ie parking hit. sure explains things if that is the case. this photo from @JeffBowlsby 's website appears to indicate the top cap is entirely independent of the bumper and possibly fixed to the body through the back. and the bumper can move freely a small amount rearwards. sure is a neat detail if true. must have got dropped during productionizing bean counting? |
