I looked high and low in the workshop manuals but could not find mention of the distributor cap wiring connections for the 914-6. Is the wiring order and clockwise rotation shown in the photo below correct? I took this from a 911 sticker.
![]() I am creating a quick reference sheet for myself as I prepare to reassemble our engine. P.S. Believe it or not, not all 911 are the same. I guess the SC turns counter clockwise? |

I guess the SC turns counter clockwise? That is the correct rotation and firing order on a -6. Once you line up the #1 position on the distributor with the TDC mark on the flywheel, you are good. However, make sure you properly identify the cylinder locations. According to the sticker on mine, #1 is the rear most on the driver side, (as referenced with the engine installed, fan facing forward). Fan 3 6 2 5 1 4 |

Our car too has what appears to be a 911 sticker, if you consider that arrow normally indicates the "direction of travel" in the workshop manuals. ![]() |

The direction of travel arrow is wrong for a 914 6 # 1 is closest to the passenger seat. |

If the flywheel, then you essentially have to turn the sticker upside down to get the correct physical location perspective. |
