I dont really have room in the garage for a two post lift.. so I figure a scissor lift might be better... let me know what you think. My ceiling is 11 feet and don't want to spend more than 2000 ish... or am i out to lunch...

I have Quickjack and MaxJax in my shop.

I use both, but I greatly prefer the MaxJax. I only use the Quickjacks when the 2 post MaxJax is occupied.

That said, the MaxJax has gotten really expensive! I got mine for about $1600 several years ago during black Friday. They are now selling for about 2X that amount. But for a low ceiling shop like mine, it sure is hard to beat.

I have pulled several engines using the Quickjacks. You need to add blocks to the QJ to get the car tall enough to remove the engine without pulling the rear valiance and/or the carbs/intakes off the motor. Its close though. On my car its about an inch too low. Easy to remedy. The QJ are low enough when folded up that they can live under your 914. I'm always a little worried about them there, but I've never made contact and my 914 is lowered slightly from stock.

Neither the QJ or the MJ hold a candle to a full size lift. But you can't get a full size into a garage with a normal size ceiling. But when I get rich, I fully intend to have a shop with a ceiling that supports a full size lift.
