I deleted the radio as I never used it. What did Porsche use to replace the speaker pods?

One of my 914s had been originally sold with no radio, and the footwell speaker pods had thin black plastic "sheets" behind the grills held in place with whitish plastic pins where four threaded screws to hold the speakers would have been used. I assume all 914s were imported with the speaker pods whether or not a buyer chose to have a radio installed.
