I just received a new set of brake pads for the back of my 72 914-4. On my car the pins are two different sizes (one small and one large). On the new pads the holes are the same sizes (both small). Except for that both pads (old and new) seem to match. Did they just send me the wrong ones. I asked for 70-72.

You've got two options here.

1. The pads will fit, but one hole on each pad must be enlarged to accomodate the larger pin. People have suggested to use a drill, file and other means. I have found it best to use a drill press. This way, you can lock the pad down and not have it spinning around when the drill bit hits it.

2. Go back to where you bought the brake pads and complain that you asked for pad for a 914 and they sent you the wrong item.
