My engine lid cable was broken when I bought the car.
PO bent the cable and rigged it to stick out between the engine lid and the trunk.
You had to hold it just right in order to close the engine lid without trapping the cable.

Today I fixed that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

$3 at Home Depot and now it works (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif)

I am still looking for a better handle, so if you have suggestions........ (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

I kind of like the TEE, but I am still looking around the house at old toys for something better. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif)

I order a new cable and I am thinking of rerouting to the original location, but that thing never worked well......... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

I ran into a very interesting part on an early Boxster While disassembling a wrecked Boxster I found the electric trunk latch is the same as the 914 deck lid latch but with a solenoid actuator . I never tried it but a simple wire and push button should work. I have the latch if you want to try . AL
