I just happened to have been browsing some parts suppliers. I remember some posts about having to “trim” the new Dansk tanks. I happened to see 2 different part numbers available. I am assuming 1 is early, and 1 is late…?.???…. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

There is a mid version that no one makes.
On my 74, I bought the late version and moved the brackets over from my original tank for the metal expansion tank. |

There is a mid version that no one makes. On my 74, I bought the late version and moved the brackets over from my original tank for the metal expansion tank. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) yeah, one of those quirks of the 74 between them shifting the charcoal can off the fuel tank in frunk in late nov 73 and fitting the plastic expansion tank in may 74. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) deleted the little clip slot for the cannister strap on the upper tank seam. (cant remember if the bolt fitting towards rear of tank on back side upper surface is also deleted. have to have a look again. think that is still there?). different brackets for plastic expansion tank. i had a thought a few years back that maybe the USA tanks got the cannister clip fittings on them from 70-late nov 73 and the euro tanks did not. thought maybe that the 74 USA cars with the quirky tank actually might have just got a standard euro tank from 70-74 but there is no evidence of that in parts catalogue. have a euro parts catalogue and nothing in there to show there was a part number for a tank minus the cannister clip. another one of those 74 L jet mysteries - plenty of them in the PET catalogue. mystery shared with any of the 74 2.0s that come after late nov 73 up to may 74. any 74 2.0 pre nov 74 has got the same tank as all 70-73s. its a very minor detail and the early tank for the 74 with metal expansion tank fits properly. just has that cannister clip which the originals did not have. 914 201 010 10 is the early tank for metal ex tank 914 201 010 12 is the later tank for plastic expansion. very suggestive there might have been a 914 201 010 11 (= mystery tank?). possibly was during production. but deleted as a spare part for just XXXX 10 as a universal replacement? .......and Dansk follow suit. |
