I just happened to have been browsing some parts suppliers. I remember some posts about having to “trim” the new Dansk tanks. I happened to see 2 different part numbers available. I am assuming 1 is early, and 1 is late…?.???…. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

There is a mid version that no one makes.

On my 74, I bought the late version and moved the brackets over from my original tank for the metal expansion tank.

no worries Art. i'll send you a message with the list.

----------

re tanks and @Van B 's point about the 74s.

tank style 1 08/73-11/73 (up tp charcoal can change - late november).
same as tanks from 70-73. same old same old metal expansion tank.

Attached Image

has clip in upstand seam and pressing welded on rear upper surface for fixing charcoal can strap to.

Attached Image

tank style 2
late11/73-early05/74 deletes clip in upstand seam and pressing welded on rear upper surface. can is in the engine bay.
but still has same old same old metal expansion tank.

Attached Image

tank style 3 early 05/74 onwards.
goes to plastic expansion tank with different fixing brackets. continues to delete can clips and welded on bracket. can is in the engine bay.

Attached Image

to add to the mystery.
this is what the european cars had the whole time through to plastic expansion tank.
was the same as the 11/73 - 05/74 USA had.
metal expansion tank. no charcoal can fixing elements.
this is the car from the porsche museum collection.
silver euro twin carb 74 1.8. probable build date = early nov 1973.
very original car.

Attached Image

this is i believe the tank missing from PET.
i speculate it had a 11 right at the end of the part number instead of 10 or 12.

dansk make the early USA tank and the late USA tank but do not appear to make the euro70-74/mystery74USA tank.
none of this matters really if you are just making a functional set up.
you can use either of the two USA tanks.
but just say you were fussy. like chasing a restoration of an LE for instance.
its gonna have the mystery tank.
and to make a new one you are going to have to do the Van B/Art procedure on a late dansk tank.
