My /6 conversion is going on 3 years as it seems as many do. I had a local old school reputable shop build the stock 2.7, case was done at Ollies, .... should be a great engine. Finally trying to get her barking, but just won't take hold. While cranking she wants to start, but when I release the starter, she conks out. We have a spark (not real significant), timing is close, carbs appear ok.
Is it possible the valves or maybe rings are not sealing because the engine sat for about 2 years? |

Seeing no oil at all in the filter would bug the crap out of me.
Even if the filter was screwed up internally, I would expect SOME oil in it... Not sure what the problem is but the "no oil at all" would "dead-line" that for me until I understood why. |

I hired the engine build as I have never done a /6 before. Many /4's and V8's and tractors Had about a tea spoon full. Looking back, I probably should have known better, being an old guy and I now see the amount of details to do this sort of build. I will get a pic tomorrow. It appears there is a valve that normally sits at the bottom of the filter, the failed unit has the valve at the top (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) |
