I heard there is more Porsche's in So Cal, then anywhere else in the world for that same reason. I can't drive a mile without seeing one. I was in Europe on vacation including Stuttgart Germany and rarely saw one, except for the Porsche museum and factory.
But yes, California is not the cheapest place to live or retire... SC is a nice place to retire and a lot cheaper than California. My sister in law has rental property their. Best of everything in your retirement!!
