Found a really slick subwoofer, Looks like it was designed for us Options

Had been contemplating a stereo upgrade. Had read all the threads. Wanted something that would require minimal disturbance from stock and be unobtrusive

Had already committed to a period correct Blau Frankfurt with the digital conversion. I knew that the Infinity Kappas were a good solution in the original speaker housings so went with those. In looking for a small powered sub I found the Pioneer TS WX010A. Chose it because it is about the smallest one out there and is a small 50 watt amp that requires no heavy wiring

Figured it’s small size would provide a variety of mounting options without have to cut up any interior stuff. What I did not know was how well it would fit. After taking out the foam filler block, I found that This thing fits in the recess in the passenger footwell like it was designed to be there. See pix below



I held it into place using the double face tape provided with the sub. This tape also nicely isolates the speaker so it does not rattle against the firewall/floor structure. Once the foam block is trimmed and put back into place the carpet covers it all and it essentially is undetectable.

The thing has great adjustability in gain and frequency. Both are turned way down and provides all the bass you could ever want in our small cabin. Paired with the Kappas it sounds great

Overall a very sanitary installation and a pleasing ( to me anyway) solution.

So, yes, it does fit in a stock center console nicely - just finished my installation!

1. Made a wood block that fits inside the console to the rear, It's a little wedge-shaped horizontally as well to hold the unit more straight up. The unit is then screwed into the wood block with one of the supplied mounting brackets. This is the initial fit test:



2. Then I made a small bracket from an aluminum strip I had, found a rubber bumper about the right size I could screw into the other mounting hole so that the top of the unit lightly wedges inside the console when installed:



3. Did the cabling - very straightforward, the only thing not in the kit was an extension RCA cable, I had three or four lying around in my box of audio cables, so no problem. Yellow wire to Battery+. I have this on a separate line with a 15A fuse to supply both the radio head and the subwoofer. Blue wire to the radio antenna/accessory wire (turns the unit on and off with the radio), black wire to ground. RCA cable from the radio head to the subwoofer. Done. Finished install (the aluminum angle is just velcroed to the carpet to keep the unit from sliding forward):



It sounds great! Makes an amazing difference from the 4x6's (see this thread) alone. With the top on it's almost too much bass (for me) on max gain. Should be great with the top off. That's the only downside, in order to tweak it, you need to get into the console and pull the thing halfway out.

And the console and speakers look perfectly stock. The radio is the exception of course.
