Hi Guys,

Well it looks like the bumblebee will finally be finished. I say that because these cars are never done till you sell them (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif). Here's the link. If you've been thinking of a bumblebee, at least you know where this one's been...

Thanks to everyone for all the amazing support and kind words. Fingers crossed the car will go to someone cool...

Perhaps an unrestored, true survivor in really good condition might garner the numbers above $50 or $60K that folks are referring too. This car was extremely well restored, but maybe that lack of originality and the engine swap kept the bidding a little lower than it normally would have been?

I'll take the contrarian point of view on this, and say that maybe the "Can Am" cars(unless absolutely original) might actually diminish the value under certain conditions. My point would be if this car had been restored to exactly the same level, but painted in Delphi(assuming it weren't a BumbleBee) do you think it would have gone for more or less? I think about 10K more....it's just a better color. (If you check out BAT, a week ago a maroon '76 went for the same as this car)

Point being, for every 1 person that wants a black car with yellow wheels or a white car with red wheels, there are 4(probably more) that don't. Most of us want a car that we can feel free to modify or "make our own". Due to the heritage of these special edition Can Am cars, most folks don't feel "right" about modifying them. Also, I'm just not sure these paint schemes are all that popular. Would you rather have a 1977 "Bandit" Trans Am or just a really well done 69 or 70? I choose the later.

In the end, this particular car is really well done and probably drives as well as it looks. In short time, the right buyer will find this car and be very satisfied.
