I moved this from the Paddock, thought I put it here. Because the port is almost straight, with little long side short side turns, with what there is , do you find it necessary to slow the flow down on the “short side” to get good flow out of the valve. I was reading about something mepstein posted a picture of. Small divots, like a golf ball. So I’m going to do that on the long side, just wondering if there is any reason not to also do it on the short side. Thanks guy’s smile.gif

I'd always wondered IF the dimples would help airflow in a tube.
That video says NO! Unless your intake is SO BAD that you can have boundary layer separation like the backsides of a golf ball. The T4 intake track does not have this problem. The dimples LOOK cool as shit but after watching that video they don't look like they will help much. One area where they MIGHT help is "wall wetting" where the fuel in the intake charge separates from the airflow and covers the walls of the intake. This can be a problem, especially on V8 style manifolds where the outboard cylinders have a 90 degree turn in the final sections of the intake (think old school Chevy small block here). The LS1 intake (and most modern V8 intakes) eliminate this problem anyways. I believe ALL of the Porsche intakes (even the V8s) don't have this problem. |

Well you got a lot more out of that word salad than I did. He did say no, not really, then I heard him talking about boundry seperation then he went on to talk about how it would not be necessary to dimple the whole tube, but just where the flow begins. Then he gave the bicyclist example and showed the small patches on the leading edge of the arms, but how dramatic the effect was from just a little dimpling. i may add some where the flow begins. |
