There is also the option of using 986/987 axles.
They have the outboard stubs built onto the axles (like almost all modern CV axles). I believe they are the same diameter and spine count as the 911 stuff. I'm NOT sure if the 986 stuff will attach to the 901 tranny output flanges without adaption. When I convert to water cooled drive train the Boxster 6 speed (and its axles) are part of my provisioning plans. I've seen mention that the axles will just "fit" without buying specialist axles. Now, there are BETTER axles available via the custom route. "Floating" CV joints ARE a thing with the high-powered off road 4wd crowd. See Tygaboy's Ferrari thread for options. He had custom length floating CV joint axles built. http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=359314 Axles are about 3/4 of the way through. The whole thread is worth checking out. Really good fabrication/problem solving in this thread. The 986 axles are what I believe Renegade Hybrids uses as the base for their hotrod axles. https://www.renegadehybrids.com/ |
