Hello everyone,
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Fred from France, I bought a Porsche 914-6 converted with a 3.6 from 993 c2, the engine starts well, but the previous mechanic fitted a Wevo side shift kit, The mechanic where the car is tells me that there is a problem with the location of the gears on the gearshift grid. Reverse gear is in place of first gear, do you have a spare part or a solution to sell me to stop the problem? or is it a mistake in the assembly of the wevo kit? Has anyone seen this problem? Thank you |

I have a Wevo kitted trans out of a 914-6 3.6 race car. There’s nothing wrong with the Wevo kit, it just has to be installed correctly. If your current mechanic can diagnose the issue, he should be able to fix it, though I’m a bit cautious to think his diagnosis is correct. Did the car ever drive correctly or is the past history completely unknown.
I would want to have it in front of a tech who understands the kit or at least someone who is good at figuring things out. |

Hello, is your car only equipped with the wevo sidekit? like me, or do you have other elements, like the knob or others? |

Did they replace it? |

Did they replace it? Specifically, a 1972 911 shifter which looks just like a 914 one from the top but is different below to suit the non-dogleg pattern... or a '73 on which has the round aluminum housing. |

I tried them all including the one year 1972 915 shifter. I am currently using the JWest Rennshift 915 shifter. The Wevo and Rennshift are springed to the center 3rd and 4th gate and have a shorter throw. The Rennshift is the best because it also has a slightly shorter throw left and right. The 72 915 shifter is the politically correct shifter because it was the only thing available when the 916 came out in 72. |
