Is there supposed to be a "1.7" badge on the ass of my car?

Maybe not.
My early '73 was a 1.7 and did not have the 1.7 emblem. And the 914 emblem was different also. Sort of a gunmetal rather than gold or black plastic like the '74 emblems. |

I had one of those gunmetal gray badges on my 1st 914 back in 80s. I always assumed it was faded annodizing or something like that. I still have it around in storage somewhere. |

Pretty sure my early '74 (Sept 1973 build date) has the gunmetal badges, both 914 and 2.0. |
