I would like some advice as to the best accelerator cable mount and location for a 74 type 4 i am working on. i've only owned fi so any help will help. Also is there a certain cable shroud part that holds the cable shroud to the mounting bar allowing little to no resistance for the cable to move freely. Thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif)

Yes, have a blanket ready that you can smother a fire with or even better a halon fire extinguisher. Especially with carburetors with air filters removed (swapping main jets, etc.).
Last year,, somebody (OK, me) forgot to reinstall the refurbished injectors into the 968 cab and tried to start the car. Grabbed a cloth bag and threw it over the resulting gasoline fire. Fire didn't completely go out, so hit it with one of the dry chemical fire extinguishers that were hanging on the wall. Fire went out, but as technicalninja says, it took hours to clean out the mess. A steam cleaning machine helps. Honestly, there was some panic involved, especially when the cloth bag didn't put out the fire. Otherwise, I probably would have grabbed the halon extinguisher from inside the 968. Fortunately, only minor melting of the spark plug wire cover (something like $31? To replace). When I was a kid, a friend of my dad started a fire in his garage that caused a lot of damage and could easily have burnt the whole house down. So, please be careful out there. |

I have run this already for the initial leak test and will not start this in my garage untill i feel it is safe and everything has been gone through. I had help tuning the carbs. The air filters are on now as the hex bar has been moved to the rear of the carbs. I will double spring each carb to shut the butterflys. I was wondering do you need to plug the return fuel line at the firewall? what is the normal process for the return fuel line when modifying to dual carbs? and do you add the fpr before or after the fuel filter? i see you are in the bay area..i am in the east bay alamo area.
