I found this picture recently - my first 914. A 1970 1.7L, Signal Orange. I had many little troubles with car - like when it got cold it would not start - it would crank but no fire - next day when the day warmed up: ZOOM! I came out to our schools parking lot and the front left panel was dented, I took it to the dealer for repair, North Shore Porsche (at the time in Kenilworth, IL) When I picked up the car the panel was obviously a different color.....I complained (was 17 at the time working the overnight at the A&P and needed the car for work) but had to take it right then. The service manager told me that the rest of the car had faded, that if I rubbed it out it would match again. I rubbed the car to the primer as seen in the picture and no results. I decided to sell it as is, always wondered what happened to it. Sold it to a Japanese guy who had just started as a professor at UMad in WI. Lots of memories in that car. ![]() |

That color match is terrible. That would be fun if you could find it. Any idea of a vin?
