Picked up a 76 out of texas that had been converted to single carb that just doesn't run very well. I decided to convert back to original FI, essentially everything is gone and I am working on understanding the system. I guess my first question is where does the fuel pump draw power from? there is a single black wire underneath the fuel tank that has no power to it but all the relays have been removed and Im waiting on those from pelican

Please don’t
“Time by ear” Remark the timing mark There are fan templates and you can pull a valve cover also Doing things lazy/wrong will only get you in trouble You’ve been fighting this awhile already due to inaccuracies. Brant |

Brant Hello Brant , You are correct but maybe when I get my new thread started you can help me with this . My mechanical skills are not that strong , I am a DIY'r but sometimes I know just enough to make me dangerous . I have to me some unique challenges with this motor setting the timing because the mark on the fan is not present anymore , it was on the fan when I assembled the motor but it does not show up in the viewing port when I go to hook up a timing light and look for it. I have read about pulling the valve cover on #1/2 head and jack car up to rotate a wheel to get slack in the two valves on Cylinder#1 and then make a mark on the fan that I can use for timing but some things about this I will need more clarification on for me . I am 70 and never attempted a project like this in my life so I run into a few things I need help and patience with ( I feel a bit like a dummy sometimes) as I am definitely out of my wheelhouse here. Having never adjusted valves on a 914 yet I have read that to get to them I will need to remove my heat exchangers . Anyway I have my Mother living with me and today is her 90th birthday so I probably won't get to the new thread today that I want to start where I will ask the questions I need help with . Thank you I do love a challenge and I will be back as I have been waiting almost two years to drive this car . |
