As a continuation of Jake’s response to my question, I gave him the case numbers and this is what he had to say:
“that’s a newly manufactured replacement case known as a universal case. These had no case code stamped on them. This case likely has a major issue in the oil pressure relief system or the cylinder decks. These cases have been a major pain in the ass for me over the years. Some of them that I found that were NOS were never used and were “new” because they were junk. This one actually appears unused and there’s likely a big reason for that.” Very grateful that Jake would take the time to help me out! Great guy, and the definitive expert on all things Type 4! |
