Hello everyone. I recently purchased a used OEM intermittent wiper relay harness and it was supplied with a VW relay PN: 111 955 531. I followed the instructions on Jeff Bowlsby's website that was a copy of Sir Andy's post regarding the relay. My 914 is a 74. All wiring has been verified for their correct locations. Now here is the issue I am having. When I went to test the wiper system after installing the harness, I put the wiper stalk to the position below position 0 which is supposed to be for the intermittent function. When put into the position below position 0 the wipers run on low speed all the time. Now is the a relay issue not being the correct part number as OEM? According to the owner's manual it should operate once every 10 seconds if I remember reading it correctly.

As Andy said you have to break off the tab. Intermittent is DOWN. Center is off, one up is low and 2nd up is high.

As Andy said you have to break off the tab. Intermittent is DOWN. Center is off, one up is low and 2nd up is high. Curious of the tab that needs to be broken off. Anyone have a picture? I ended up pulling out my intermittent wiper relay because it would never turn-off the wipers fully. I'm thinking now that I must have used different steering wheel internals when I put everything together (had multiple sets). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) |
