My 1st Porsche was a 1976 orange 2.0 liter that I drove across the Atchafalaya basin freeway in Louisiana at 120 mph before my buddy got pulled over from a police chopper. Hehe. Took her to a couple of Porsche Parades. Autocrossed the heck out of her. Unfortunately, that car was a nightmare rust wise and bit the dust, but was my entry into the Porsche world.
I’ve had a few 911’s but ventured back into the 914 world with my 71 914 project that I shared here on 914 World. Spent way too much money on the car (way past 6 figures) but loved every second of it. Still visit this forum all the time and watch the 914’s for sale on BaT religiously along with other websites. Am I a “914 guy?” Love you all…. |

Always liked driving an "underdog" car. My Dad was that way as well. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Nothing as fun as passing higher hp cars on the track with our narp!!!! |

Always liked driving an "underdog" car. My Dad was that way as well. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Nothing as fun as passing higher hp cars on the track with our narp!!!! In the early 80's, I was driving my DD black 73 2.0 to work. I began a "race" with a new 928 in morning rush hour traffic in Louisville KY on the Watterson Expressway, back when it was only 2 lanes each way. He was much faster but I was more nimble shooting traffic gaps and stayed ahead until my exit a few miles later. He was FUMING!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Same car, driving home with my roommate from a late night out and a few long island teas. Sitting at a traffic light next to a newer malaise era Vette. Rooomate says "...don't do it..." about the time the light turned green. Got the win on reaction time and was even with him when the "trouble bubbles" were in my rear view. Cop was 2 cars back and I didn't see him. I was my utmost repentant self and apologized profusely. Cop hands me back my license with a stern warning followed by "...you had him the first 2 gears..."
