Hello,
I'm ordering parts to install a complete '74 style exhaust in my (new to me) '76 914 2.0. I see that the part number for the heater cable that goes from the floor lever to the valves/flappers is different for the '75+ cars. Does anyone know why that would be? Are the heater valves in a slightly different location on the '75/76 cars, resulting in different cable lengths? Or is there something different about the hand lever that requires a different cable? My car currently has no heat (and no cable), so I need to purchase a new cable regardless, I just need to know which one. Part numbers: -74: 914-424-075-01 75-: 914-424-075-03 Thanks for any info. |

My experience when I backdated was that I was able to use the cables on my late car after backdating, but they were just barely long enough.

Based on your response, I'm assuming that the '74 cable is longer and that is the cable I should order for a '74 exhaust in a '76 914 - did I get that right? Again, I need to order a cable either way, so I just want to avoid ordering one that is too short or won't work for some other reason. Thanks. |

I have ordered two original Porsche cabels for different cars and both were the wrong lenght. I had to change where the 180 degree bend was and shorten one end by putting big bags in the wire. now i just use piano wire about .040" and make them longer than needed. cut to lenght after threading thru flapper valve cabel nuts. I don't use the thick barrel ends. |
