Thomas, I have a known good 037 ECU, with original Bosch part number label, all functions verified on my tester equipment and running car, freshly painted and ready to go. Will PM you with details.

Jeff, question for you. Is painting the preferred method? You tested one for me last year, which passed but the outside is a little rough. It looks the same metal as the factory horns, which I've had great success in restoring with a wire wheel on a Dremel.

You know Fred thats an interesting approach and you have had an excellent result. I know I tried wire wheeling at one time and it removes the galv plating. I think I recall seeing some of the Bosch rebuilds and they are painted. Probably depends on the quality of finish you are starting with.

@thomasotten - my apologies for hijacking your thread here.

Jeff,

Here you go. Spent a little time on the back of my ECU. I dremel'd the tight space but mainly used 0000 steel wool and comet here. Cleaned it off and then used NeverDull metal polish that I had lying around. It's not too bad, I don't think.

Here's the Before / After pics:

However, after doing all this, painting it might be the better way to go. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
