The Six Conversion:
2.7 CIS with 993 cams, 46/40 valves, 911S 8.5:1 CIS Pistons with Nikasil cylinders. Guessing it produces slightly more than stock 2.7S HP and has a much lower, broader TQ curve. Current exhaust is stock 914-6 HE's and one of Ben's SS Quiet mufflers. Been very happy with the exhaust note the past few years, but always wondered if stock would be quieter. Ben's Quiet Muffler ( I did have to reclock the tip as it was more for 1974-up 911): Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() |

Got the backpad back and lesson learned for me, just let a shop do interior work. So much better than what I did.
Anywho, everything back together and hit the road. The results are positive, but nothing earth shattering. 60mph - 84bd, was mostly floating around 83.5-83.7 70mph - 86db, floating around 85.6-85.8 Results of the laminated rear window are a solid 1db decrease in overall sound. I've decreased interior noise by 2db and while that doesn't seem like a lot, you can tell. Don't know if I'll keep pursuing much more. I think next steps are the Lizard type coating or some sort of Dynomat product. -Dan |
