Wilwood Powerlite Rear Brake Kit for Porsche 914
Hey Teeners! PMB is proud to represent the entire line of Willwood products for all of our Porsche models but... look what we have here! An entire system designed for our awesome 914's. Most of our cars have a lot more power than they started with. To complement the added power, they need upgraded brakes and Wilwood Disc Brakes has come up with the perfect solution. You'll get forged aluminum Powerlite four piston calipers, brackets, and hubs, combined with larger, plain face or SRP drilled and slotted, "vented" rotors. That's right... finally vented rotors for your 914. Wilwood’s brake kit upgrade weighs ~53% less than our smaller OE cast iron, unvented brakes. Reduced unsprung rotating mass is always the right choice. Note: these brake kits MUST be used with a 914/6 or 911, 19mm master cylinder. Click Here for the Kit Brake kits feature:

I will preface this comment by saying I have never seen one of these kits in person. Wilwood may have fixed the issue with the pads sticking to hot rotors by now.
Back in 2003, Wes Hildreth fitted a set of Wilwood spot calipers to Mike Floyd's @old914dog Orange 914 so he would have a park brake. They didn't work worth a damn. Mike quickly found out that if you set the park brake when hot, the pads wold stick to the rotors so badly the only way to get them to release was to use a hammer on them. I was at Wes' shop when the wrecker brought Mike's car in with the rear brakes completely locked up. It was a bitch to get off the wrecker. Wes took the spot calipers off and trashed them. At the time, I was planning on using the Wilwood spot calipers for the park brake on my six conversion. After seeing this, I changed to the 911 style drum brakes. |
