Hi everyone,
My 75 is ready to drive again. I fixed the oil leak from the main seal a couple of weeks ago and all is good. As I continue to do the shake out of the car, since I'm on the tail end of the restoration, I've had one problem the entire time and I need to get it fixed now. Cold or hot, as I'm driving there's a flat spot when I shift between gears. It bogs and then picks up again. It's particularly noticeable from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. Sometimes even when starting for a dead stop. I know NOTHING about carbs but I'm willing to jump in. Does anyone have any experience with these symptoms? Is there a write up on the world that I've missed? Would anyone be willing to work for high end craft beer and good pizza (along with an hourly rate) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I'm in north county inland San Diego (Valley Center) Mike |

Venturi's are 32 Yeah that’s gonna’ suck (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) Seriously though 28 is going to be better for street drivability and throttle response. 30 is middle of the road, and 32 is way better suited to top end power / high rpm track type use. Personally back when I ran IDF’s I preferred the 28’s. Driveability is a big deal and more pleasant to drive even if that means giving up a little top end HP at redline. Keep in mind the amount of time you really spend at 5000 - 5500 rpm is minuscule. nditiz1’s recommendation is a very sound stating point. With the setup you have - not at all surprising you’re not a happy camper. Here is the standard venturi selection chart that has been around for a long time that came out of one of the aftermarket Weber tuning books or something like that (ie not my data). Keep in mind this chart is for Horsepower - not optimum drivability. ![]() |
