I'm really struggling writing this post but I gotta be honest with myself. I've always wanted a 914 hot rod, and I built one and I'm enjoying it, but I need to pair down the vehicles so I'm consolidating.

- 1973 914 2.0 -4 (now with an SC 3.0 -6)
- VIN 4732920996
- Stated mileage: 82,200
- Clean Clear Title
- Asking Price $44,914 (payment via ACH Wire / Bitcoin / Cash)

I'd rather see if there is any interest here before I try to get it on BaT or C&B or anything else, so here's the listing...

Car started as a 1973 2.0 -4 w/ all the typical factory optioned goodies. It had some rust many moons ago but that was repaired rudimentarily and repainted in original Silver Metallic long before I owned the car. It's not the best repair work but it aint rusting anymore, lol. It showed 79,970 miles on the odometer when I bought it in January 2017 and I don't believe that is a rollover reading. It now shows about 82,200 miles.

The -6 engine is not some crazy spec'd build. It is a bone stock 125k mile 3.0 from an 81 or 82 SC (I cant remember the year... small 35mm intake ports). I found the engine back in 2017 and planned to do the swap keeping it all on the stock SC CIS, but slopes are slippery and I went a little further, lol. Knowing one day I'd likely rebuild it into a short-stroke 3.2, I decided to go with stand-alone engine management and ITBs. I picked up a complete Rasant management kit that uses a Motec M84 ECU located int he rear trunk (Targa top still fits like factory in the same place) and has some pretty amazing components with it. The system eliminates the distributor all-together and utilizes coil-on-plug ignition system, electronic Crank & Cam position sensors, a 60 tooth crank wheel, TPS, MAP, dual wideband Lambda sensors and a few other goodies. Induction is via 40mm PMO throttle bodies w/ Siemens 60lb injectors. It also has 914Workshop Oil tank, heat exchangers (modified to clear oil lines), Tangerine Racing stainless fuel lines, its running a Bosch 044 fuel pump, ... I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things but I can answer whatever questions you have.

The gearbox is the side-shift stock 914 (901) box w/ a Kennedy Engineering stage 2 clutch kit and adapter ring for a reconditioned SC flywheel and uses a Patrick Motorsport shift rod. It shifts great once you know where to aim for gears, lol. Plan was to do the J-West shifter but never got around to it.

The Chassis of the car was pretty good but when I pulled the old -4 engine out, I figured I'd clean up and improve the engine compartment while it was at Translog for getting the engine mounts (Naro Escape) welded in. They replaced the battery tray, cleaned up the old rust repair from the hell hole, repaired some rust on the right side rear suspension arm, cleaned up the firewall and surfaces and painted it all silver. It isn't a concours engine bay but it's pretty tidy. No other bodywork or repairs were necessary. the car has no longs rust, no rotting floorpans (had holes, repaired long ago), no real rust issues besides some very superficial surface rust in less-than-important areas.

The suspension wasn't modified significantly but the front struts/steering knuckles and 5 lug hubs were all replaced with new/rebuilt/reconditioned OEM 3.2 Carrera stuff w/ Bilstein inserts and new top mounts and hardware, retaining the stock control arms and torsion bars. The front brakes are 9X6 calipers (with adapters) on 3.2 Carrera rotors. It is running a 19mm master cylinder. Rear suspension is re-drilled 5-lug hubs and KYB shocks w/ (I believe) Eibach springs... stock rear calipers/disks.

Wheels / Tires are Euromeister 16x7 et23 Fuchs reps w/ Toyo Proxes R888R tires in a 205/45-16. Theyre loud, theyre hard and theyre terrible in the rain. Enjoy! I have some new all-weather summer tires in the same size I can include w/ the sale.

Interior isn't perfect but its presentable. Some stitching pulling apart on the seats was taped years ago. Dash was replaced w/ new 914 Rubber piece. Glovebox is currently out but will be included w/ sale of car. instrument cluster includes a custom quad-gauge from John Bell, stock tach and stock speedo. Everything works except the tach and oil pressure gauge. Fuseblock was replaced w/ J-West modern unit. Radio was removed and plain block-off plate used. Who needs radio when you have PMOs!

I originally got the engine cleaned up and running with the Rasant stuff on a makeshift engine test stand in my garage. When I put it in the car, the position of the engine was too low for the engine tins to properly seal to the rubber gaskets and it also interfered w/ the shift linkage... so I sent the car down to Lufteknic in Richmond, VA. Robert and his father reengineered the engine cradle side of the mount and it corrected the engine placement. They also buttoned up a few other things and delivered me back a running DRIVING car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I've put about 1000 miles on the car since the swap... driving it both spiritedly on backroads, and conservatively on highways. I wouldnt hesitate to drive it any distance and I planned to drive it to Durham, NC later this year for Luftgekuhlt 11. Maybe someone else will get the chance.

The -4 engine was decent but it is long gone... sold to a buddy. I removed the original optioned center console but it will come with the car. The old factory front suspension w/ drilled hubs and 320i Calipers will come with the car. Stock steering wheel will come with the sale. I also have a vintage Jackie Stewart Momo steering wheel that I would swap for the 996 Cup wheel currently in the car. Most everything else is original or was replaced but whatever 914 stuff I still have will come with the sale of the vehicle.

Yes I'm negotiable but no I wont take $25k. You cant find a used SC engine with the management system and PMO's for $25k. Will consider trades for a 911 (ideally a narrow body 993 coupe) and yes plus cash from me, lol.

Lemme know if you have questions. I will try my best to answer quickly but I'm not on 914World as much these days. I will post/embed a few pics and video links here and in successive *bumps*.
