Hello, needing a compact spare for my 914 six with flares. Currently, I’m running 15 inch wheels but I think in a pinch this could work. I think my rears are 225/ 60 17. Front 195 65 15 Pirelli cn36.
See pictures for rim and Tire six. To get me out of the boonies and back to civilization do you think this wheel would work? Very reasonably priced under 100 bucks and basically new. ![]() ![]() |

@cairo94507
@steve @burton73 @clayperrine Thanks for all the great data points and perspectives. Way to go Cairo for all the extensive measurements. Much appreciated. 1. GT style oil cooler valance prevents the spare from lying flat in the front trunk. I’ll have some updates on that project in a different thread. 2. Rear trunk cargo space much covetted . I like to have a clean storage area in the car. 3. Good point, what the heck do I do with the big wheel tire that comes off if I get a flat? I guess clean out all the stuff out of the rear trunk and pile stuff in the passenger seat. Let’s hear it for AAA extended towing. ! I do wonder about the logic of carrying around a spare and intending not to use it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smoke.gif) 4. Smallest most reliable spare makes the most sense for the longer drives to remote areas for self rescue. I already have the solid Fuchs fifth wheel with good tread - full size spare. And maybe I just throw that in the rear trunk when storage space is not an issue. Could jettison the passenger if needed. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) |
