Curious as to what you all might be doing for gearing on the autox course.
I have a 2056 with what I imagine is a stock gearbox. We autox at the Tire Rack so the course is not exceptionally big or long , but I find myself needing 3rd gear but it usually isn't enough time to warrant makin g the shift due to needing to go back down to 2nd. However it feels like I would be running at the redline in 2nd for too long as well. Is it common to experience this? Is there a longer second gear available? |

I have a stock 1st and 2nd then M, S, Z for my autocross car. MANY courses with a 2056 won't be big enough for a 2-3 shift. I've actually designed this motor and the forthcoming one to go to almost 8K RPM and not explode to avoid the 2-3-2 shift on medium sized courses.
The next motor will be a high strung 2270cc which will likely use 3rd more often than what I do now... |
