An insert for 275? What and why? Is it just rarity? Some strange one off design that no other car uses?

Same deal with 914-4 CV's. It totally baffles me that a car will huge production numbers has common wear parts that are either NLA, has substandard reproduction copies or is priced like they are gold plated. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif) 100,000 or so 914s are not huge production numbers by anyone’s standards. Even less on the road when you consider rust, accidents, and long term disrepair. Quite honestly - we are extremely fortunate to have a vendor base as large as we do for a niche vehicle. |

There has to be other manufactures, maybe early BMW 2002 or others. I am not saying our vendors shouldn't make a profit. I'm saying their options to sell parts are too limited. |

Fully agree But even including stuff like 912 and 2002 it’s still niche to anyone considering the big $$ for tooling up something like a CV joint. Much easier to amortize across millions of VW bugs across the world vs a 100k - 200k of something for example. |
