doing my periodic research trawl into european spec 74 914s and this came up.

very good condition 71. looks to me on studying the photos to be highly original.
even the paint. but you always got to see them in the metal to know.

have a real soft spot for early cars in minimalist trim.
willow green with brown interior combo is outlandishly moon age.

been looking a little closely at one of the images describing the car.

i take it this is the new form of the porsche certificate of authenticity?
the one you pay about $1K aud for down here below the equator.

surely this is horse (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif) ?

delivery point = spain. ?????? what. is that what it says.
a bit hard to read when you zoom in, but it looks like spain to me?
its an american delivery car if the seller's description is correct.
claims it was sold first in south dakota. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

also they name the transmission and engine number.
which you never got on the older previous certificates.
but the wording is quite ambiguous.
engine number and trans number merely consistent with original equipment and options.
?????
are these porsche technical certificate people merely reading the engine and trans numbers off the car itself and then saying ok thats the type of engine and trans the cars came with.
correct me if i am wrong but the certificates are not actually doing what we call numbers matching. ie there is no reference here to an original build sheet or records with the the engine/trans numbers the car was built with?

i dunno.
but i'm thinking porsche tech certificates are a ,,,,,,,,,bit of a rip off? a bit of bullsh#t?

The record keeping for the 914s was a bit haphazard. When I bought the six from @Rusty , It came with 3 COAs. And they are all slightly different. One says it has a heated rear window. One doesn't have the engine number on it. And one doesn't match the chassis number in the rear trunk. So we chose the one with the heated rear window, as it has the correct chassis and engine number.

The current replacement for the COA is not available by mail. Now you have to take it to a dealer to get the engine and chassis numbers confirmed. Porsche says this is to prevent fraud, i.e. re-stamped engine numbers, etc.

So take the COA contents with a grain of salt.
