doing my periodic research trawl into european spec 74 914s and this came up.
very good condition 71. looks to me on studying the photos to be highly original. even the paint. but you always got to see them in the metal to know. have a real soft spot for early cars in minimalist trim. willow green with brown interior combo is outlandishly moon age. "engine number and trans number merely consistent with original equipment and options.
?????" There are more pages to the CTC with more information than that one image. The CTC indicates the specific engine type number and serial number for the engine and transaxle original to the specific car. Whats the issue? |

"engine number and trans number merely consistent with original equipment and options. ?????" There are more pages to the CTC with more information than that one image. The CTC indicates the specific engine type number and serial number for the engine and transaxle original to the specific car. Whats the issue? thats what i am asking mr. b. do they give the actual engine number and trans number for the car as built. or....is it as i quote from their own words (not mine) it is simply consistent with the car. ie a W or EA or EB within the right range. and is all they are doing is reading the engine number off your car and seeing if its consistent with its spec and trim? for instance - yes it has a two litre engine when it should have within right range for model year. they don't say it is the actual engine and trans number from the records. i am looking at that word "consistent". reason i ask is these certificates are $950.00 in aus. which is a lot of dough. i don't know what they cost in the usa. maybe its cheaper. but for $950 i'd be looking for something a little more actual than simply consistent. i already know my car has consistent engine and trans numbers without porsches help. it would be kind of interesting to have it confirmed by them as actual. and for a bit less than nearly a thousand aud. jeez thats a set of 4 real good conti tyres on my audi, fitted, balanced and with a wheel allignment.
