In Colorado, I can use a vintage plate from the year of the car. I bought this on eBay, and if you are just a bit dyslexic, you can read it as "Type 914-4".

Well, we don't have personalized plates here, plates are always two-letter canton (state) symbol plus only numbers - up to 6 places. What they do is allow people to buy unused plates that might have numbers they are interested in - either outright or via an auction for the most wanted ones. Plates can have as few as just one number or as many as six. You can imagine that the plates with one, two, three or four numbers are either very expensive to aquire or unavailable.
Just '914' was obviously not available here and although I did find a couple of 4-numbered plates that included '914' they all started at $2K. So I settled for this which cost me $300. I think it's pretty cool. The black dots between the numbers are mine.  (no VD jokes, I've heard them all... The VD is the two letter symbol for the canton of Vaud) |
