Has a disassembled older J35 vtec v6 with it. Need another older J35 - older to me means has typical headers (3 separate exhaust ports) but way more newer “single” exhaust port engines for sale out there. So many in fact that the older ones aren’t readily available, have a free “newer” style v6 for the pickings.

Couple questions:
1. Any idea where to find an older-style J35 v6?
2. Anyone ever see a newer-style baja or buggy exhaust headers?

Rich, not my area of expertise but I believe that was the engine in my 2001 Honda Odyssey (J35A). My apologies if I'm wrong as I'm going by memory. Most of these older Odysseys (the "tranny bomb" generations) end up in the salvage yards because of the defective design of Honda transmissions that fail on a regular basis. We got rid of our 2001 Odyssey for salvage value with <120K on the engine when it needed its third transmission. My point is that you have a good shot at getting a decent engine from an Odyssey at the self service salvage yards as many of them are there not because the engine failed but because the transmission failed. I just checked Pick-n-Pull in Richmond and they have 11 in the yard right now, including one put out just three days ago. Might be worth a look. I also see these frequently on CL as a "mechanic's special" because the transmission has failed, so you could potentially buy a whole vehicle for <$1K if. you wanted to. If I remember correctly the years of the bad transmission were from 99-06. Good luck!
