I participated in a two day DE at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut this Monday and
Tuesday. This was my second 'on track' driving event.
I drove my GT project which currently is running a '68 911 2.0 in front of a Martin
Bott 915/916 trans. Weird right ? more about that later.
My car ran great and my instructor was very personable.
He was participating as well. His car ?...a GT3 Yikes.
I drove the wheels off my car and learned plenty.
It is really surprising to learn that someone who loves modern Porsches barely
knows anthing about the air cooled ones.
Ours cars ? Blank.
The best part is he loved the car. He wasn't gushing but I'd say he was surprised
at the flat handling and it's neutral behaviour, even in the hands of
a rank beginner.
It was a good experience for both of us.
Please excuse the cartoon numbers on the car.

I had the same experience last year in my car. GT build, 2.2 six with a 901. When my instructor climbed in the dirvers seat, he hit Big Ben at nearly full throttle, executed a perfect heal toe down shift, and let it rip for about five minutes. When we finished he said, "I love it, if I knew the tires and brakes better I could go faster". Now I know what it's made of. By the way, my race numbers were also "914", so we'll have to get more inventive if we meet up.
