Does anyone know the height of the lettering used for the chassis number in the trunk? Or, could measure it, please? I'm trying to replicate the Karmann number on my LE but this trunk was replaced by the PO. I have a 4mm, 6mm, and 10mm punch set. So, it'll probably be 8mm (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Well I won't call it a complete failure but....
![]() It's not easy to get a hammer in here and get the numbers straight. I used a piece of tape as a bottom line, which helped but I couldn't hit with enough force to really make a good imprint. Probably needs to be done before the piece goes in the car. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) If I can't get something behind it to actually imprint the numbers better, I may abandon the effort. I'm thinking I might use a bottle jack and some wood blocks to provide support from underneath. If so, I'll grind/hammer what I did and start over. |
