I recently posted that my friend ( an experienced mechanic) has agreed to help me drop the motor in my 74 with 1.7L (yes not original) but running motor and do a refresh..

I'm about to pull the trigger on an order to the tune of about $1400

I wanted to share it and see what other suggestions and parts we should have from the start, I'm sure we will find things we need after the motor is out but for now here is this list..

Almost all replacement parts are now made in China, Mexico, or East Bloc counties regardless of where you buy from or any perceived price premium from a particular vendor.

RockAuto is upfront about who the supplier is.

Try to buy seals from known quality vendors
SKF (highly preferred)
Timken
Victor Reinz
Shaeffler
Cardone (OK in my experience but less preferred)
