Hi! Good questions, I would like to know myself. The one I have I believe to be the newest process. They all are advertising 'solid rubber w/ stainless framework' . AA claims to be the best but I think they are all coming from the same us manufacturer. 914R, pmb,aa,siera m...Jeff B was interested in the one i have, but he wanted a 'perfect' one, which led me to looking at it closer and adding all those new pics on my site. I think he may know more about these and led me to a possible conclusion" They all MAY be coming from the same mfg/molds BUT the defect rate may be very high and each unit is sold at a price based on how well it actually turned out. (meaning AA gets the 'best ones'?) Dont know, mine looked perfect to me and I had bought 2 of them at the same time. I remember looking to see if there was a ' better one of the 2' and I could not see a difference or any kind of 'flaw' . Now after talking to Jeff I see the point, that just because its NIB doesnt mean its 100% perfect and these things may all have flaws and it would be good to look at as many as u can so you can find one that is 'good enough' for what you will be putting it on. The one I have listed is 100% good to me, though my pics show that it has 2 very tiny 'flaws'(if u will call it that) I may have been lucky to have been sent one as nice as it is...?

I think I have the answer here. The 914Rubber dash I bought back in late 2020, right before a price increase, had two flaws in it. I contacted Mark about these and here's the pertinent part of that exchange:

the flaws in the finish are from a factory part. We are aware that o e poi t at the corner of the cluster has a very thin skin, and it is possible to get a "dimple" if the stud has anything in the thread area when tightened. I'm pretty sure that may be what you are referring to.

Sent pictures to Scott. He pulled two dashes off the shelf to see if these were present and already responded to tell me that these are flaws in the part that was used to make the mold. I haven't installed the dash yet so no tension on the stud, but I'll be careful now that I know this. What I am seeing in that area is a visible outline of the head of the stud. You can see that clearly in the picture I sent Scott. Other than those two things the dash is AWESOME. I appreciate that you are making all the products you do and as I move further into this project I'll for sure be ordering a bunch more of them!

As far as the two different types of dashes from 914Rubber, I do recall that as costs went up they started to make two versions of the dash at different price points. The newer option used a less expensive material, more similar to what the factory used, and the other had a more expensive but more durable material that was less prone to cracking. Not sure at what point that switch was made, but it was after I got mine in late 2020. The OEM dashes are susceptible to cracking in the same places, and the warning was that there was a higher risk of this with the lower priced option. Both looked identical, and I understand were made with the same mold. I just checked and I only see one option for the dash on their website so I'm going to make a cynical guess and assume that the less expensive option won out. Also, I'm going by memory here and we all know that this can result in inaccuracies.

$499 shipped, without tax, is an amazing price for the dash. $650 plus tax AND shipping on the 914Rubber website. The flaws are barely noticeable, and certainly aren't as obvious as those unsightly cracks most people have in their original dash. If I needed it I'd be all over this.

Here's pictures of the flaws in the dash I received. I suspect they match the flaws in yours:
