As the title says… I only see new at AA for $537 or NOS on eBay for $500… Is that all there is? The Bosch FI specialist working on my car says the plastic part is somewhat loose inside the metal part and could lead to a fuel leak…

You don’t need to remove the cold start valve itself. Just re-plumb the fuel line to bypass the cold start valve and leave the valve attached to the intake plenum.
