I need to replace my 15-20 year old 914 tires & looking for suggestions. My 1974 914 tires has only about 1K+ - miles on them and in perfect condition, but needs replacement for safety. My tires are currently all-season 205x60xR15 with no fender clearance issues front or rear. I don't do track events, just local summer cruising to cars/coffee & PCA activities with our 914 locals. Need suggestions for summer only tires since it's a garage queen. I like the following size based on manufacture availability for 914's. 205x55x15 looks good? 205x60x15 does not look available? 195x60x15 looks good on 914 factory recommendations. I know it's a difficult choice on this forum & looking for expert 914 suggestions. Tom in Michigan ready to purchase. Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() Attached image(s) ![]() |

Tire guys (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif)
My old (205-60-15) tires looked perfect with about 2K miles when installed about 20+ years ago. Yesterday I installed (4) new 195-65-15 tires that improved ride quality with improved handling (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif) This was long overdue and cheap life insurance due to old tire safety driving issues. Had a great time looking at the 914 on the auto rack to view & take photos of (20-year) old dust & grime on my 2k driven miles. I know (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif) Here is a cheap idea for new 914ers taking off and replace hub caps with no damages, 2" PVC tubes for less than $10 bucks at Home Depot (photos) that fit hub caps perfectly.
