Any reason that a smog pulley off the fan hub of a late 914 wouldn't work as the pulley to power a modern A/C compressor?

Years ago, I attempted to use a smog pulley assembly to drive my AC compressor. Not only did the two different pulley sizes cause some issues, the rubber disk lived a very short life. The concerns brought up in this thread are valid.
For a limited time only though, you have THIS option (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

I'd jump on that before I wasted 99+ hours designing, fabricating and debugging an idea that may or may not work. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |
