My car came with this ridiculous and heavy (22 lbs) tow bar assembly mounted under the nose. I put up with it for over ten years, hitting innumerable curbs, driveway dips, and parking space stops and today I finally removed it.
My question now is, how do you safely pull a 914 from the front onto the bed of a flatbed truck (which were the only instances I ever used the tow bar for)? Where should a tow guy attach his chains/straps underneath safely, where nothing will break, to winch the car forward onto the truck? Thank you. Osnabruck914 ![]() |

Usually a rollback will have a bunch of extras to make it work but the large hook on the end of the cable won't always fit the tow hook. There isn't a lot of clearance between the loop and the floor pan. It also can scratch the paint. The $10 strap solves the issue 99% of the time. Sometimes deep spoilers are an issue. |

Thats a great idea, use the strap for that center tow loop just to pull up onto the trailer with the come-along winch, i did that before i put the tow bar for flat towing on, i guess my earlier comment was because i was thinking about him doing this on a regular basis but if he's not going to flat tow and just pulling onto a trailer once and awhile definitely doesn't need the flat tow bar. |
