I've been in talks for a couple weeks with a local who's trying to buy my finished project car. He wants to have it picked up and taken to a local shop (who supposedly does Porsche race builds, etc). I don't really know the buyer that well, besides meeting him when he first came to see the car and test drive it (seems like an honest character). I have the title and I'll keep that until the actual sale, but what steps should be taken to insure nothing nefarious takes place? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Side note. Couple of weeks? Is he haggling the price or just can't afford it? This might be his way to get you to drop you price. He came to test drive the car, just before he left for an out of country vacation. Had a list of items he wanted addressed before taking possession - which was denied, but agreed price was slightly altered at that point. I can not drive the car to PPI, cause it's not registered etc. The shop is resisting coming here for the PPI (I've no garage and it's 90+ out, so I kind of get it). |
