My 73 has the original steering wheel. Looking at a few threads, I gather 360mm is stock. Thing is I am 6'2". Have no problem fitting in the 914 itself, but the steering wheel is awkward at best. Can another member who is similarly tall post a photo of another smaller wheel as they sit in the drivers seat? Thinking a 350mm may solve my problems? Though looking at other photos maybe obscure the gauges a little. Still better then having my knees on the sides of it!

@GregAmy what size space did you use (.5", 1", 2", etc.)?

Also, can you share a pic of the steering column from the side so I can see how you have it stacked?

Remember, our cars have a bit of a dish and offset stock, so these not only compensate for losing that with a flat wheel, but also for my personal driving preference.

Street car. I sit with the seat only slightly forward from dead back to get the correct comfy knee extension. In looking at this photo, I'm not only using a 3" extension and JWest's 16mm thick eccentric, but also an LTB Autosport 1" extension:

Race car. I sit bolted to the floor in a thin Butler aluminum seat. It, too, is almost all the way back to the firewall, and tilted more supine such that the headrest is detached to get my head below the roll hoop. 3" spacer, OPM 2" spacer, and JWest 16mm eccentric.

But notice, since I'm sitting on the floor, I have the eccentric moving the wheel down:

This photo below is what I used as a guide to decide how much in spacing I wanted in that car. This is how I prefer to drive.
