I just found time to check the oil in the car (914/6 conversion 2.4 spec).
After bringing it to temp and ensuring the car was on a level area, I pulled the dip stick several times, cleaning after each pull, the oil appears to be significantly higher than necessary, at least 1" past MAX. The car was running at the time of the check. 1. Should I check with the car not running as well? 2. Time to remove and refill to the proper level? Thanks all..... Trying to figure out the specifics of the '6' with the little time I have currently. |

Hi PlantMan,
I have owned 3 914-6's. You are checking the oil correctly; hot, level ground, running at idle. I run my car between the middle and top mark. I check it about every 500 miles. I have a large front oil cooler and my system holds about 13 quarts. You should be able to snake a flexible small tube into the oil tank and suck out a quart of oil and then top it to the correct level. Always make sure you insert the dip stick in all the way when checking the oil. Good luck. Michael (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |
