My car is a 73 1.7.
I have reinstalled all of the lights since the car has returned from painting and after checking several sources and my notes, I think all is connected correctly. When I pull out the light switch to the first position, all of the lights come on as normal. When I turn the key to the first position, all of the lights on the left side of the car (parking light, side marker, headlight, and brake light) all get super bright like they are getting additional power from somewhere. The parking lamp gets so hot you cant touch it. I have checked the fuses and cleaned their connection points on the fuse panel. Swapped all relays on the fuse panel with known good ones. Cleaned and tightened all grounds. Since doing this, I have now lost the fog lights. All other weird conditions remain the same. Not sure where to go from here. If anyone has any idea why this is happening and what I should check next, please let me know. I would very much appreciate the help. Thanks. Ed |

Jerry / Ishley,
Thanks for the replies. Yesterday I cleaned corrosion from the bulbs and their sockets in the lights. Spread the relay lugs a little farther apart and cleaned their holders. Replaced some questionable fuses and bulbs. Retightened grounds. Not sure which of these did the trick, but I once again have lights at the same intensity all the way around the car. Even the fog lights lit up. I hate electrical problems! |
