Because I don't have enough to do, that's why.
I've fallen in love with the Group 5 car that's recently been delivered to The Red Barn where we're going to give it a bit of love and improvement. This will be covered in various "At The Red Barn" YouTube videos. THIS thread will cover my attempt to build my own set of Group 5 body panels. You'll have to wait to learn what material(s) I may have selected, as well as seeing which chassis they go on. For now, let's get started. Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() |

The project scope immediately gets out of control.
A key change I want to make re: the existing available Group 5 panels is to have the bodywork not be an overlay. Essentially, make them replacement panels. Yes, that will mean cutting off all 4 quarter panels and bonding on new ones. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) I first need to know where the Group 5 panels differ in size/shape from the factory sheet metal. This means I need a scan of the factory panels. Well, it's a good thing I have a few 914s sitting around! So, I scanned the Ferrari car's rear quarter. The trick now is to get the Group 5 and Ferrari car scans into Fusion and used to create surfaces so I can mate the Group 5 features to the areas of the factory panel where they fit to the chassis. I mean, how hard can that be? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) Attached image(s) ![]() ![]() |
