I have newly refurbished brake calipers that I am trying to install for the first time. New rotors and pads too. One of the 8 pistons will not compress sufficiently to allow me to the install the brake pad on that side. I have:
* Swapped brake pads * Removed the caliper from the car worked on it on the bench * Attempted to compress the piston with quick-action clamp * Backed off the adjustment screw I will of course call the vendor, but that puts me two days behind. I'm hoping for something obvious that I'm missing... Original 914-6 calipers if it matters. Thanks.  |

The adjuster should pull the piston in.
I’m going to attach the PMB video just so you have clarity on what the internals are https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dm_DnizKOZM?si=Ku4c6ZRuVEYbtXHu There is an outside chance the adjuster mechanism wasn’t full seated into the piston. If you’re convinced the adjuster is backed all the way out and no longer pulling the piston in, you might want to be a little more aggressive with the clamp and see if you can push the piston back the rest of the way. See time stamp 27:00 or so to see what I’m talking about. |
