AFAIK our cars were finished with a synthol enamel, probably one tack coat and 2 full coats. I am not interested in going base coat/clear coat and am looking forward to an original or close to the original orange peel. How is this measured (profilometer), what was the original?

Also, no idea about the original but you can sand and polish to taste. What I would be looking for is something that protects that paint underneath the best. Some of the modern clear coats don't have to be mirror like but will produce a really tough cover for your paint. |
